Leo has recently joined the young group Malinky, who have quickly established a very fine reputation for themselves since the release of their best selling and critically acclaimed CDs Last Leaves and 3 Ravens on the Greentrax Recordings label. Singer Karine Polwart’s debut CD 'Faultlines' is released on Neon Records on Monday 26th January.

2004 Celtic Connections, Glasgow
JANUARY

21 - Mike Harding Radio 2 show, with Malinky. The show will be recorded from The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall at 7pm and will also feature John Tams and the marvellous Lunasa.
25 - The Unusual Suspects. Leo is appearing with 31 of Scotland's top musicians in the greatest folk orchestra.
30 - Malinky. The Strathclyde Suite, Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, 8pm. We're back at the festival again on after our sell-out success in the Strathclyde Suite last year! Tickets are £12.50/£10.50 and are available from the Celtic Connections box office on 0141 353 8000.
31 - Sunset Song. Glasgow Cathedral, 8pm. Leo is appearing as part of cellist Wendy Weatherby's commissioned piece for the festival, a musical adaption of Sunset Song, the classic novel by William Grassic Gribbon.

JANUARY CELTIC CONNECTIONS DIARY FOR KARINE & STEVE OF MALINKY:
  FRIDAY 16th Steve plays with Jim Malcolm as part of the Master and Apprentice concert series at the Piping Centre in Glasgow. Also featured that night are Shetland fiddlers Aly Bain and Kevin Henderson. And Karine is the evening’s host! Tickets £8.
SATURDAY 17th Karine plays in the Musical Ark with brother Steven and a host of other duos including Findlay Napier & Gillian Frame and Aaron Jones & Claire Mann. Venue is the Piping Centre. Tickets £8.
THURSDAY 22nd Karine performs original songs from her solo CD “faultlines” at 8pm in The Tron Theatre. Performing with her is a fantastic six-piece band featuring Corrina Hewat (harp/vocals), Fraser Fifield (sax/whistles), Julian Sutton (melodeon), Kevin McGuire (bass/vocals), Mattie Foulds (drums) and brother Steven Polwart (banjo/guitars/vocals). Multiple BBC Radio 2 Folk Award nominee, Jim Moray, opens up the night.
SUNDAY 25th Both Karine and Leo perform in “Unusual Suspects” - a spectacular 30 piece plus folk big band! The gig takes place at 8pm in the Main Auditorium of the Glasgow Roytal Concert Hall.
Steve performs earlier in the day with the Young Tradition Scots Song concert at the Piping Centre at 2pm, alongside Scott Gardiner, Findlay Napier, Gillian Frame, Emily Smith and Jen Butterworth.
SUNDAY 1st Feb Karine performs in two new commissions. With Jennifer Port @ 1pm in the Strathclyde Suite of Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and @ 7.30pm in the Main Auditorium for Dick Gaughan’s orchestral commission.
